The Hibiscus Coast Basketball Association is a not for profit sporting organisation based on the Hibiscus Coast, north of Auckland. Our catchment area includes Silverdale, Orewa and the Whangaparaoa Peninsula. We provide local basketball programmes and leagues for all ages of junior players. Our programmes aim to create a culture of development, allowing our teams and individuals to grow in a supportive and positive environment.
HCBA has three key areas of participation which provide basketball opportunities for all levels of ability.
Schools
The schools program includes an academy and leagues for both primary and secondary ages. These modules are run locally and are designed to promote participation in a fun and engaging environment. Three-day school holiday camps are regularly run during term breaks.
Club
The club module operates community-based competitions such as the Quick 3 league. These leagues are designed to run with smaller player numbers. The outcome is that players are exposed to more game time and higher participation levels. These games are exciting to play and spectate, with the emphasis on developing personal skill level, rather than results.
Representative
Hibiscus Coast representative teams are selected from open trial events and by invite from our representative coaches. Teams participate in Regional and National competitions for boys and girls, ranging in ages from Under 11 to Under 19. These teams compete at a high level and many of our players have gone on to higher honours.
For information about participation in any of these modules please contact us directly or refer to our Facebook page for additional details.
